225 - Ethically Addressing Ruptures to the Therapeutic Alliance Part I

Session Description: In the last several decades there has been an enormous amount of research into the therapeutic factors impacting clinical outcomes. What stands out from this research is that the therapeutic alliance is responsible for most of the variance in clinical outcomes. This result has many important considerations for improving treatment outcomes. Mainly, the therapeutic alliance needs to be actively monitored and repaired when a rupture occurs during the course of treatment to ensure optimal outcomes. This workshop will focus on understanding the therapeutic alliance, what causes ruptures to the alliance, and how to repair these ruptures ethically.
